Discussion 4:
10:00PM PDT THURS APR 12 2012 (0500 UTC)
Short Term Outlook:
A weak 1000 mb low is located near 47N 130W, and an occluded front is stationed along a shortwave trough that is draped across Vancouver Island at the time. Showers associated with the shortwave have already passed through the area, and only about a 10% chance of precipitation exists overnight; although, low cloud cover will stick around for the next few hours. Decreasing cloudiness in the morning, and Friday should be Partly Cloudy with a high near 11 to 12C. However, expect winds to strengthen on Friday as a ridge of high pressure begins to move into the area causing the west to east pressure gradient to become larger. Will keep winds at 5 to 15kts through 12 hours, but 20kts is not out of the question late morning or early afternoon Friday. Very low likelihood of precipitation through Saturday.
Forecast:
0 to 6 hours (valid through 13 April, 1100 UTC/4:00AM PDT): Northwest winds 5 to 15kts. Waves 1 to 2 feet.
6 to 12 hours (valid through 13 April, 1700 UTC/10:00AM PDT): West or northwest winds 5 to 15kts, gusting to 20kts. Waves 1 to 3 feet.
