Now and the far future: It was raining on my walk from my apartment to the coffee shop, so I guess that means that storm has arrived in Seattle. It seems at though storms could be rolling in all the way through the weekend 🙁
Today: Environment Canada has a gale warning out for where you are. They say winds could get as high as 35 kts… now or maybe earlier. Did you see that? It should coincide with the passage of an occluded front. Also, the center of the low is passing just north of Vancouver Island (and south of the Queen Charlottes), not far from you. The West Sea Otter buoy has the fastest winds (it’s just head of the low now), they’re 26 kts gusting to 32. (Just) behind the front the winds are southwesterly, around 20 kts gusting to around 25. You’ll see that next. Though those are all in open water and we know your situation is somewhat different… Fanny Island is closest to you and they claim only 7 kts of wind.
So, after the front winds should calm down for a while and become westerly and pick up again in the afternoon. Then they should die down again briefly. Tomorrow they should pick up again, to around 20 kts from the southeast, ahead of the next storm. Right now the next front looks like it should pass Wednesday.
