An (ocean rowing) education… for you!

Over the last few years, OAR Northwest has been a lot of things:

We started as four guys who wanted to race a rowboat across the North Atlantic, and we built this organization to do it. Thankfully, we succeeded, won the race, set a Guinness World Record, and weren’t afraid to try this again. As we got older, we got new blood and priorities changed. Racing – awesome though it is – was not what was driving us. We needed a reason that was greater than ourselves.

Looking back on what the first trans-Atlantic row did for us was, in no uncertain terms, an education. The more people we shared our story with, the more we realized it had to offer. Over the past few years of distillation and a process that is by no means done, we have a quality education program created and managed daily by Brant, Justin, and Justin of Adventure Learning @.  They are creating 8-weeks of curriculum covering The Boat, History, Ocean Science, and The Body.

The best part? It’s free!

That’s right – thanks to our sponsors who are making this expedition possible, this curriculum is free!  Did you hear me?  Free!  All we want is for students to use it.  If you are a teacher, if you are a parent of a student, if you are a student, just sign up on the website.  Take your curiosity of this strange and wonderful trip and find out about the history and science that makes it possible.

Remember, if you are just coming to our website, its not too late….  the ocean is huge… we will be here a while.
