Forecast (0000 UTC 15 February)
Current Conditions:
As we’ve been informed by Angie, you’re currently without power under a deck of clouds. Wind speeds as of this forecast are roughly 15 kts from the NE, with a relatively weak current speed of 1-2 kts and wave heights between 2-3 m. There are currently mid to high level clouds above your location due to an upper level wave to your west.
Short term forecast:
Currents and wave heights should remain relatively steady at their current values. Winds will increase tomorrow morning 18-23 kts and will hover around that strength for the duration of the day, while holding a constant NEly direction. Both GFS and ECMWF are forecasting a reduction in cloud cover late in the day Friday, though you’re relatively near their boundary of clouds
Long term forecast
Outside of a shift in wave direction to Ely, currents and wave height should all remain relatively constant. GFS has cloud cover improving midday Saturday through early Monday (after which it will worsen again), while ECMWF only has Saturday being clear. I’m hoping this is low broken clouds, but I can’t really tell at the moment. The other big story will be the wind speed associated with the high pressure system to your north. According to ECMWF, winds will be 18-23 kts through at least Tuesday, with an average NEly direction. So that’s not good. The further west you get, the more Ely the winds will be. However, the winds do not appear to be favorable for the next week.
Next 12 hrs (06-18UTC):
Wind: ~15-18 knots from the NE increasing near the end of the period

12-18 hr forecast (~2/16/13 00UTC):
Wind: ~18-23 kts from the NE
Pressure: ~1016 mb
Waves: 2-3 m in height
Current: ~1 kts
Cloud: 75-85%
18-24 hr forecast (~2/16/13 06UTC):
Wind: 18-23 knots from the NE (maybe some brief reprieves in the middle)
Pressure: ~1016 mb

Current: ~1 kts
Cloud: ~50%
Good luck!
