Rain and Wind Approaching!!

To the rowers’ north is rain; to the rowers’ south is rain. Currently, they are in a gap between rain bands associated with a shortwave trough. It should stay dry overnight, but do not be surprised if there are a few sprinkles from these storms. A low pressure system will be developing over eastern Iowa on Thursday. Rain associated with this front will begin around early afternoon on Thursday with heaviest rain overnight. 0.5 inch of rain is possible. The front will likely be through the area by Friday morning. Colder air and stronger winds are approaching on Friday afternoon.

After the cold front passes, it will be noticeably cooler on Friday and Saturday with highs in the upper 40s/lower 50s and lows in the mid-upper 30s. Expect 15-20 mph winds from the NW starting on Friday morning through Saturday evening. There is a chance of lingering showers on Friday, but Saturday should be partly sunny though still cool. Sunday will also be chilly, but slightly warmer than Saturday.
