Current Conditions:
It’s currently quite mild at Lake Itasca, with morning temperatures in the mid-60s and the early morning clouds and fog burning off. According to the somewhat nearby weather station, winds are pretty high at 15 mph (gusts: 18mph) from the northwest although other surrounding stations are weaker. I’m not sure if this is an issue with the weather station location or not.
Short Term forecast:
As the cold front associated with the low-pressure system situated in Canada moves off to the east, winds should remain weak and conditions should be generally fair. There is the chance for isolated thunderstorms, but overall clouds looks to be scattered both at low and high levels. Temperatures should be nice as well, with highs in the low 70s on Tuesday and in the high 70s/low 80s on Wednesday. It shouldn’t be too humid on Tuesday, but Wednesday you’ll get to experience the wonder that is the Midwest humidity–dewpoints into the 60s during the day and increasing at night. Cloud cover Wednesday will increase, with chance of rain and storms.
Long Term Forecast:
Moving into the end of the week, another developing low-pressure system to the west of your region will be the dominating feature. Situated squarely in the warm sector on Thursday, winds from the south mean temperatures and dewpoints will be high in morning and early afternoon, but things should cool down as the cold front pushes through. The winds will also shift, coming from the west/northwest, cooling and drying out the region. While it might be cloudy, rain shouldn’t be widespread. Thunderstorms could still be a possibility. These details will become clearer in the Wednesday forecast.
