JRH recovery operations forecast

Winds decrease from almost 20 knots from the east near Puerto Rico down closer to the 10-15 knot range near the JRH, under the influence of the Bermuda High. Waves are about 1.5 m from the east and relatively short with only 6 to 8 second period.

Overview:
There’s a big front on the east coast right now. It will head north and out your way (which is new and interesting for us, now isn’t it!). The next few days will resemble the pre-frontal progression you’ve come accustomed to, though. Something resembling the Bermuda High is sitting… up by Bermuda… so it’s pretty calm there, and winds build to its south, through where the JRH is and continuing up to Puerto Rico. So it’ll be windiest as you leave shore, less windy out at the JRH, and then windy again on the way back to PR.

Friday, PR to halfway back to the JRH (24.6 N, 64.6 W): Winds E 15-23 kts. Don’t worry, they’re more like 10-15 kts where the JRH is! Waves 1.5-2m ENE, 8s. Looks like you could pass through some storms on the way.

Saturday at the JRH: 15-20 kt winds, turning from ESE to SE and slowing to 10-15 kts as you get closer to the boat. Waves should drop to 1.5 m or so and turn ESE, shorten to 6s period.

Sunday at the JRH: Winds 10-15 kt ESE-SE. Waves holding 1.5 m from ESE, 6-8s. Least rainy (and thus probably stormy) day.

Monday at the JRH: Winds SE 10-15 kt. Waves holding 1.5 m from ESE, 6-8s.

Whenever you head back to PR from Saturday through Monday: Winds build up to 23 kts, turn E as you head back south.
