Forecast (0000 UTC 19 February)
Current Conditions: Temperatures are estimated to be in the lower 70s. Winds are around 20 kts according to the latest satellite estimates. Partly cloudy conditions are in place. Waves are 2-3m from the NE and currents are weak.
Short-term Forecast: Temperatures should hold steady in the lower to mid 70s over the forecast period. Forecasters still uncertain about the changing winds at dusk and dawn. More info may follow in future forecasts. Through 1200 UTC, expect winds to transition to ENE and hold steady at 18-23kts as clouds increase. Between 1200 UTC and 1800 UTC, expect more favorable condtions with somewhat calmer winds of 15-18kts and decreased cloudiness. Between 1800 UTC and 0000 UTC Winds will pick back up to 18-23kts and clouds will increase. Currents will remain weak and ambiguous according to RTOFS. Expect no change in waves with heights of 2-3m, still from the NE. Some light rain may occur along with the clouds.
Longer-term Forecast: While a region of high pressure still dominates locally, a low pressure center moving across the north Atlantic will bring higher waves (3-4m) out of the north or northwest by Thursday. Cloud cover will remain an issue over the next several days with partly to mostly cloudy conditions in your area. Little to no precipitation is expected. Currents will remain weak and ambiguous by our models for the next couple of days. Sometime next week an eddy may provide favorable currents to the west in the range of 17N to 18N and -40W to -37W.
