Day - Few Clouds

Building High Pressure

A weak frontal feature will move towards the east and high pressure will begin to build. While waves will be relatively high at 2-3m, the winds will be weak and the skies will be clear.

Current Conditions: Satellite indicates scatter clouds in your vicinity and a narrow band of frontal clouds just to your north. However, none of these clouds are very thick or deep and are likely not precipitating. ASCAT is continuing to show very light winds (5-8 kts) from the ENE that weaken as you go north. This is consistent with your data and the models. It looks like you have been having pretty consistent and fair weather the last day or so. I do not expect much to change. Your waves have 2-3m and the current has been weak.

Short-term Forecast: The front just to your north will move off to the east and high pressure will begin to build back into your region. With the slowly rising pressure your winds are going to remain very light. They will tend to come from the E or NE, but the direction may be quite variable. You will also continue to experience scatter clouds. I expect that you will see even more sun after that frontal band moves further to the east. I do not expect any large or thick clouds to develop. Temperatures will generally stay in the mid 70s. ROTFS is suggesting that the currents have increase. This region is spread over a diagonal from 44E, 17N to 39E, 20N and is obsreved over this broad region for the next day or so. I would estimate the current be at most 1 kt, but it is most likely less than that. Waves will continue to be 2-3m. However, I expect them to turn and come more from the N and the period will reduce.

Longer-term Forecast: The anticyclone is going to remain the major weather feature in your region for the next few days. The models have it around through at least the weekend. With that I am expecting continued clear skies and weak winds through the weekend. The wave period will become less variable and will likely settle in around 12-14s at 2-3m.
