Current Conditions:
Satellite imagery indicates that mid and upper level clouds have developed just to the west and south of the islands. These clouds appear to be streaming from ITCZ near the equator and are moving towards the northeast. I expect them to be entering your region soon. There may be some rain, but I do not expect anything significant or long lasting. These may be associated with low pressure and front like structure to the northwest. Pressure continues to be around 1016 mb and fairly steady. ASCAT is showing winds at about 10-12 kts from the ENE. It appears that the current located between the two islands is going to weaken by the time you read this and switch so that it is coming from the west.
Long term forecast:
A trend of increasing winds that are more northerly appears over the next few days, at least through the 4th. We will have to see what the latest models suggest but at the moment ECMWF is suggesting that winds near 20 kts may be possible. This all may be associated with that low pressure and front like feature coming down from the northwest.
