Current summary: Winds from boats and satellites all look to be around 20 kts from the NNE closer to Africa and NE moving out to the islands. Ship obs are all saying 20. Your last ob was even 19! ECMWF has the winds at 18-23 about when you should be reading this, but down to 15-18 through Monday, always from the NE. GFS has it down to 12-15 Monday. Currents… I’m working on making some plots so we can see the currents better. RTOFS is saying that there is some current to your west over the next 24h. It peaks about 1 deg west of where you are now, around 20W, at something like 2-3 kts, and should take you NW or N… or W. It will be interesting to see if that is realistic. Right now waves are supposedly from the NE at 2-3 m and 8-9 s. Over the next 24 they should die down to 1.5-2 m.
Long term forecast: ECMWF has wind patches down to 9-12 Tuesday, before picking up to 15-18 again Wednesday. Always from the NE. No other 18-23 on the horizon. GFS weakens more and generally has slower winds by something like 5 kts. As for current, no eddies obviously in your path immediately.
Tuesday waves might turn to come from the NW.
