For tonight: It looks like the N/NW winds have already set in (from looking at the buoys and island stations). They will probably strengthen overnight, perhaps to 15 kts, and then head NWerly and speed up to 20, possibly even 25 kts. EC says up to 30 kts. Then they should die down through the night, reaching 10 kts by Tuesday morning as they turn westerly and then southerly (ahead of the storm)….
Here’s what the storm looks like on the current WRF run. Between 11 and 2 PM Tuesday, the winds go from NW, to W, to southerly. By 5 PM they’re up to 15 kts, they’re up to 20 kts by about 8 PM, up to 25 by 11, and they stick there until between 5 and 8 PM Wednesday. If the low ends up going further south then currently forecast, it could be 30 kts. And of course gusts will be faster. As for the duration of the storm, the current WRF run has it past you by 2 AM Thursday. Then the winds shift to 10 kt southwesterlies.
