OAR Northwest Speakers Bureau
Expedition Ocean Rowers and OAR Northwest Staff can help make your business, community and organization event a success.
OAR Northwest delivers speakers passionate about the seas beautiful and sometimes terrifying lessons.
A multi-media presentation transfer your audience into the middle of a North Atlantic rowing race where keen strategy and each oar stroke determine their daily race standing. Four crew members must struggle, persist and dutifully take their turn at the twelve two-hour rowing shifts to which each must commit on the 72-day passage.
Circumnavigating around Vancouver Island isn’t a joke for any craft, much less a 29-foot rowboat. As North America’s most technologically advanced ocean rowboat, crew members are virtual “astronauts” in the Salish Sea, conducting research experiments and collecting data for universities and and the United States government. Additionally, the ocean rowboat becomes home, laboratory and life-support on an unforgiving ocean.
The crew for the next expedition, a nearly 3000nm mid-Atlantic crossing, include: Beijing Olympic Gold Medalist Adam Kreek, open water paddleboarder Markus Pukonen, Guinness World Record holder and North Atlantic Rowing Race veteran Jordan Hanssen, and white water rafting guide and wilderness EMT, Pat Fleming. Greg Spooner will be holding it all together on land at Mission Control. Jordan and Greg rowed 3,200 miles across the North Atlantic in 72 days from the USA to the UK without assistance.
